A 200 hour Yoga teacher training is the first level of certification to becoming a Yoga teacher. During this intense and exciting process, the many different areas of becoming a Yoga Teacher are studied and practiced. Body, mind and spirit are all a part of each whole person. Each one of these aspects of ourselves are discovered and practices are learned in order to be able to integrate them together to make the whole.
Physical Anatomy is learnt in order to be comfortable with the different systems of the body and help to make informed choices when teaching different bodies in different poses. Sequencing is an important part of your Yoga training. The ability to create fun, safe and effective sequences is both a learnt process and an art. It is a skill that gives the teacher a way to help the students grow their Asana practice in a safe and progressive way. The different energetic bodies are learnt in order to address the whole person and yoga practice as a whole. Without water and food we can live for some time. Without our breath, we cannot survive. Pranayama, or breath work, is a powerful and important part of the energetic system to be practiced and taught with clarity and full understanding of the importance and power of correct breathing. The nature of our mind is to think. Meditation is a tool that we use in order to be able to learn how to still the mind. Not to be pulled into the constant up and downs that the thinking mind brings us into.
Yogic Philosophy is a vast and wonderful subject and no training would be complete without exploring all that it has to offer. From the Yoga sutras to the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads to Tantric texts, Hatha Yoga Pradikipa the depth of wisdom available to us today is a wonderful gift we have the opportunity to study and learn, as well as pass on to our students.
Experience is incredibly important for a Yoga teacher, in order to teach what has been experienced, not just a learnt theory. Within all of our yoga trainings, experience and practice is given a great amount of time and importance. This allows a teacher to teach from a deep well of experience, rather than just theory. This encourages the teacher to grow not just as a teacher but as a human being.
The next 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training will be a one month intensive, held in July, 2018 in Kineta, Greece.
